BackgroundMBD1, or or methyl-CpG binding domain protein 1, is a part of the methyl-CpG-binding domain (MBD) family, which also includes MeCP2, MBD2, MBD3, MBD4, CLLD8-like, and BAZ2A-like proteins. It is known to play a role in DNA methylation by specifically binding to methylated DNA. Research shows it also behaves as a transcriptional repressor. Because it has been shown to recruit AFT7IP, which then recruits SETDB1, a histone methyltransferase, this protein is thought to be involved in gene silencing.
DescriptionMouse monoclonal antibody raised against a partial recombinant MBD1, clone 2C7.
