BackgroundPRDM3 functions as a transcriptional regulator and oncoprotein that is believed to be involved in development, cell proliferation and differentiation. The encoded protein can interact with CTBP1, SMAD3, CREBBP, KAT2B, MAPK8, and MAPK9. A chromosomal abnormality of this gene has been found in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), also known as preleukemia.
