BackgroundLysine (K)-Specific Demethylase 1A (KDM1A), also known as AOF2 and BHC110, is a component of several histone deacetylase complexes; however, it silences genes by functioning as a histone demethylase. This protein contains a Swirm domain, a FAD-binding motif, and an amine oxidase domain. Multiple transcription variants exist for this gene as a result of alternative splicing.
