BackgroundK (lysine) acetyltransferase 8 (KAT8) is a protein coding gene that belongs to the MYST histone acetylase protein family. This protein has a characteristic MYST domain containing an acetyl-CoA-binding site, a chromodomain common of proteins that bind histones, and a C2HC-type zinc finger. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
