Li J et. al. (June 2023).  The role of m6A methylation in prenatal maternal psychological distress and birth outcome. J Affect Disord.
This prospective cohort study investigated the relationships between prenatal maternal psychological distress (PMPD), placental N6-methyladenosine RNA (m6A) methylation, and birth outcomes. The results showed that PMPD was associated with lower birth weight (BW) and shorter gestational age (GA), and placental m6A methylation partially mediated the effect of PMPD on BW. These findings emphasize the significance of evaluating and addressing perinatal psychological distress for optimal birth outcomes.

Hong L et. al. (June 2023). Tumor-associated macrophages promote cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer cells by enhancing WTAP-mediated N6-methyladenosine RNA methylation via the CXCL16/CXCR6 axis Cancer Chemother Pharmacol.
This study aimed to investigate the role of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and the CXCL16/CXCR6 axis in cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer (OC) cells. The results showed that TAMs promoted cisplatin resistance by enhancing WTAP-mediated N6-methyladenosine RNA methylation through the CXCL16/CXCR6 axis, highlighting the potential of targeting this pathway to overcome chemotherapy resistance in OC.

Huang L et. al. (December 2023). Role of miR-300-3p in Leydig cell function and differentiation: A therapeutic target for obesity-related testosterone deficiency Mol Ther Nucleic Acids. 32:879-895.
This study investigated the role of miR-300-3p in Leydig cell function and differentiation. The results showed that miR-300-3p regulates testosterone production and proliferation of Leydig cells by targeting Sf-1 and FoxO1 genes, and its expression is controlled by the LH/METTL3/SMURF2/SMAD2 cascade pathway. The findings suggest that miR-300-3p could be a potential therapeutic target for obesity-related testosterone deficiency.

Tang Y et. al. (June 2023). METTL3-mediated m6A modification of IGFBP7-OT promotes osteoarthritis progression by regulating the DNMT1/DNMT3a-IGFBP7 axis Cell Rep. 42(6):112589.
This study demonstrates that the lncRNA IGFBP7-OT and its maternal gene, IGFBP7, are upregulated and correlated in osteoarthritic cartilage. The researchers show that METTL3-mediated m6A modification of IGFBP7-OT promotes osteoarthritis progression by regulating the DNMT1/DNMT3a-IGFBP7 axis, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for treating osteoarthritis.

Xu Q et. al. (June 2023) ACL and HAT1 form a nuclear module to acetylate histone H4K5 and promote cell proliferation Nat Commun. 14(1):3265.
The study reveals that ACL subunit A2 (ACLA2) interacts with Histone AcetylTransferase1 (HAT1) in rice to acetylate histone H4K5 and H4K16, promoting cell proliferation. Mutations in ACLA2 and HAT1 impair cell division and lead to decreased H4K5 acetylation, indicating the role of the HAT1-ACLA2 module in coupling energy metabolism with cell division through local acetyl-CoA production.

The study shows that treatment with Moringa oleifera seed powder (MOI) in middle-aged rats improves vascular function by enhancing SIRT1 expression and activity, reducing oxidative stress, and reversing the increased expression of FOXO1. These findings highlight the protective role of MOI against cardiovascular dysfunction associated with aging through the modulation of SIRT1 signaling and attenuation of oxidative stress.

The study investigates the molecular mechanism by which PARP-1 interacts with DNMT1 to regulate linc01132 expression in hydroquinone-induced malignant transformed cells (HQ-MT) and benzene-exposed workers. The findings suggest that PARP-1 inhibits DNMT1-mediated promoter methylation, leading to increased expression of linc01132, and this mechanism may contribute to leukemia progression induced by benzene or hydroquinone.

Yuan Y et. al. (May 2023). The CH24H metabolite, 24HC, blocks viral entry by disrupting intracellular cholesterol homeostasis  Redox Biol. 64:102769.
The study demonstrates that the CH24H enzyme and its metabolite, 24-hydroxycholesterol (24HC), induced in response to neuroinvasive viruses, inhibit viral replication, including SARS-CoV-2. 24HC disrupts cholesterol homeostasis, leading to viral particle entrapment in multivesicular bodies/late endosomes, thereby impeding viral entry into host cells, suggesting a crucial role of brain cholesterol oxidation products in viral infections.

Kumar S et. al. (May 2023). Biochemical and Epigenetic Modulations under Drought: Remembering the Stress Tolerance Mechanism in Rice Life (Basel). 13(5)
The study investigates the response of rice plants to drought stress and their ability to remember and inherit stress tolerance traits. The results show that drought stress induces biochemical and epigenetic changes in the plants, such as increased proline, phenolic content, antioxidant activity, and genome-wide 5-methylcytosine level, which are partially retained even after stress withdrawal and transmitted to subsequent generations, highlighting the potential for developing stress-tolerant crops and ensuring food security in a changing climate.
