BackgroundThe product of this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor featuring an N-terminal POZ domain. Operating as a sequence-specific transcriptional repressor, it regulates the transcription of STAT-dependent IL-4 responses in B cells. The protein can engage with several POZ-containing proteins that act as transcription corepressors. This gene is commonly translocated and hypermutated in diffuse large-cell lymphoma (DLCL), potentially playing a role in DLCL pathogenesis. Numerous alternatively spliced transcript variants, yielding distinct protein isoforms, have been identified for this gene.
