Background
Mediates cell migration and adhesion through partner interactions. Plays roles in blood and lymphatic vessel separation, platelet activation, and aggregation. Induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition via interactions with MSN or EZR. Promotes directional cell migration, regulates fibroblastic reticular cells in lymph nodes, and influences endothelium connection to extracellular matrix. Controls keratinocyte morphology, actin cytoskeleton, and cell adhesion. Regulates invadopodia stability and matrix degradation. Required for lung cell proliferation and alveolus formation. Not a water channel or regulator of aquaporins, and has no effect on folic acid or amino acid transport.
