BackgroundTubulin polymerization-promoting protein (TPPP) is a brain-specific protein expressed mainly in myelinating oligodendrocytes of the central nervous system. It is thought to play a role in the polymerization of tubulin into microtubules, microtubule bundling and the maintenance of existing microtubules, thereby conserving the integrity of the microtubule network. TPPP may also be involved in mitotic spindle assembly and nuclear envelope breakdown.
