BackgroundPRDM4 is a member of the positive regulatory (PR) domain family of zinc-finger transcription factors which are known to be involved in cell differentiation and cancer. It contains an internal PR domain and six carboxy-terminal zinc finger motifs. The gene encoding PRDM4 is found in a chromosomal region containing tumor suppressor genes. PC12 cells treated with nerve growth factor (NGF) have been found to promote the expression level of this gene.
